About This Spot

Stepping into Zam Zam Foods in Hawthorne feels like entering a welcoming corner of South Asia, tucked away from the city’s bustle yet humming with quiet energy. The space carries an unspoken warmth, where the pace slows just enough to savor the aromas unfolding from the kitchen — fragrant spices, toasted garlic, and richly simmered meats that invite you to relax and enjoy a moment of genuine comfort.

Though seating is modest and often filled with those who cherish familiarity more than fuss, the true essence of Zam Zam lies in the honest, heartfelt food that arrives at the table or travels home in a neatly packed takeout box. The kitchen’s care is evident in every bite: tender kabobs that speak of careful marinades and patient grilling, soft buttery naan pulled fresh and drenched in garlic essence, and deeply flavored stews that carry hints of tradition and home.

There’s a quietly joyful balance to the experience here — bold spices that celebrate South Asian culinary roots without overwhelming, generous portions that speak to hospitality, and little moments like a warm sweet ending or a squeeze of fresh lemon served alongside a hearty stew. Whether it’s a weekend special or a weekday meal, Zam Zam draws people who crave food that feels both familiar and thoughtfully crafted.

For those who come seeking a true local flavor, this is more than just a place to eat — it’s a modest sanctuary of taste and warmth where each dish carries a story, inviting guests to discover the heart of Pakistani and Indian cooking right in the heart of Hawthorne.

Pakistani food that’s rich and flavorful. I ordered the chicken biryani and it came in a huge portion. The spices are bold but not overwhelming. Seating is limited, but most people take food to-go. Feels like a hidden gem in the neighborhood

Great food! We ordered seekh kabobs, garlic naan, and Karachi style chicken biryani. The kabobs and naan were the best I have ever had. Very tender, flavorful kabobs. The naan was incredibly fresh with an amazing garlic flavor on it. The naan was very soft and hot. The biryani was ok. Needs to be improved. Al Watan has better biryani but Zam Zam has better kabobs by far. They gave us our food with ritha which also needs to be improved. Other than that, you gotta try it! Will recommend to friends and family and will be back for more.

Best Indian food in la! My husband is Indian so we've been to our fair share of Indian restaurants and we've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. My two favorites are chicken tandoori & chana masala.

We got nehari, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, garlic naan, and the vegetable of the day (okra). $40 per person after tax and tip but we had so much left over of everything it's honestly great value. Taste and portions and aesthetics of plating, everything was superb. Juicy chicken, tender meat in the nehari (also loved the thin sliced onion and lemon for a bit of acidity). Atmosphere isn't particularly special (not the place for a dressed up fancy dinner) but it's very comfortable and homey, just the kind of place I like.

As soon as you walk through the door the aromas transport you to an exotic land. The dishes are savory and on the spicy side. Luckily I love spicy/ hot.
